the NVIDIA installer cannot continue is an error message that will prevent you from installing your graphics card drivers. You will almost certainly receive the same message over and over again, no matter how many times you try to install them on your computer.
Additionally, this error occurs with a wide range of drivers and Windows iterations, indicating that there are many potential causes. That is to say, it does not exclude anyone, and for many users, troubleshooting can be a frustrating experience.
Luckily, there’s a good chance that one of the methods below, if not more than one, will work for you, so keep reading to find out which one is the most effective.
Even if the driver installation failed, an NVIDIA folder will be created in the partition where your operating system is installed after downloading and installing the drivers. This is because it extracts its configuration before starting the installation process.
This folder will be required even if the installation fails, so if it was deleted after the installation failed, enter the installation again to create it. But now, let’s take a brief look at what Game Ready drivers do, and then jump into the list of solutions.
What do Game Ready Drivers do?
The most frequently encountered drivers are those of NVIDIA’s GeForce Game Ready technology. They are able to provide users with better gaming experiences as they use the latest display technologies.
Typically, when a major new game is released, Game-Ready Drivers are released to improve game performance, fix game bugs, and improve a user’s gaming experience for those who play the game.
If newer games are simply getting better support, we wouldn’t classify it as a driver update, but more of an improvement. If the update just says it adds support for some games you don’t play, you don’t need it.
However, if the update is important and fixes bugs and other issues, you need it. Regular Game-Ready Drivers and Studio Drivers are identical except that Studio Drivers have been optimized and tested with specific applications.
That being said, let’s jump into the list of solutions and keep in mind that they also work for the NVIDIA installer cannot continue on Windows 10 Error.

1. Update your graphics card drivers
- Right click on the To start up icon on your taskbar and select Device Manager.
- Then expand the Screenshot taken folder and right click on the NVIDIA driver to select Uninstall device.
Note that if the full error message says that NVIDIA installer cannot continue, not compatible with this version of Windows, you will also need to update your operating system. Check out the linked article for a complete guide on how to do this.
We should also note that Device Manager may not always be able to accurately detect new driver versions. If you want a more accurate utility, we recommend installing something like DriverFix.
It scans your system and automatically installs new driver versions whenever needed. It’s easy to use and you can set it to run in the background and make sure all your drivers are under control.

Installing the latest graphics card drivers has many benefits, including improved gaming and clearer visuals, such as more improved photos, as well as improved video generation, especially when using technologies pure video.
However, the main advantage of a dedicated graphics card over a locally available GPU is that it speeds up the processor. For example, when using installed designs, more pressure is put on the processor.
But, as with a dedicated graphics card, all graphics calculations are handled by the GPU, the CPU is free to work on other tasks, resulting in better overall program execution.
