Galactica is an advanced language model specifically designed for Science. It was trained using over 48 million scientific papers, textbooks, reference material, compounds, proteins and other sources of scientific knowledge.

Though the demo was well-received by many, some users found that it was possible to generate offensive content simply by entering racist or inappropriate prompts. This led to a fictional research paper on the "benefits of eating crushed glass" being authored with the Galactica AI demo. As a result, Meta withdrew the demo.
